In 1917, the Class of 1892 celebrated their 25th Reunion by making the first Class Gift to Washington University. Since then, alumni have continued this tradition of giving back to their alma mater in honor of their graduation year.
Many reunion celebrants give in appreciation of their WashU experience. Others give in the spirit of friendly competition with other celebrating classes. All give to support current and future WashU students.
Tuition revenue covers only 60% of the cost of providing a WashU education. Reunion class gifts and other annual fund gifts help cover the remainder in the form of scholarships, research funding, faculty support, facilities improvements, and much more.
