At WashU Medicine, 59% of medical and Medical Scientist Training Program students receive a full-tuition scholarship. Additionally, 29% of medical students receive a partial-tuition scholarship. These students come to WashU from across the United States and around the world, determined to make connections, create knowledge, and find ways to improve their communities near and far.

Jenna Bennett, School of Medicine Class of 2026, is just one example of this year’s exceptional scholarship recipients.

Jenna grew up in small-town Indiana. Raised by a single mother, Jenna knew from an early age that helping underserved patients was her calling and that she wanted to work with those without access or ability to pay for health care. As a first-generation medical student, she appreciates the guidance of the School of Medicine professors who remind her of her goal of becoming a physician.

Jenna Bennett

As a physician, I want to be a source of support for people who might not otherwise get health care. And because of my scholarship, I’m not only attending my top-choice medical school, but student debt won’t determine what specialty I pursue or where I live and practice. This gives me hope.

– Jenna bennett, Class of 2026

“At WashU, mentorship, kindness, and compassion are all part of our education. As a physician, I want to be a source of support for people who might not otherwise get health care. And because of my scholarship, I’m not only attending my top-choice medical school, but student debt won’t determine what specialty I pursue or where I live and practice. This gives me hope. Soon, I will be able to serve patients in the communities I care about, where my life’s work will matter most.”
